They will learn to wash their hands, use a napkin and silverware, and eat healthy foods. They even understand the concept of staying at the table. That doesn’t happen much these days!
I also love that they encourage kids to try at least one bite of new foods because they might actually like it!
Gregory, the Terrible Eater
by Mitchell Sharmat
This is a classic children’s book about Gregory the goat that wants to eat fruits, vegetables, fish, and eggs, instead of old shoes, boxes, and bottle caps.
Mother and Father Goat try to get Gregory to eat like a proper goat, but he wouldn’t do it. They wind up taking him to a doctor.
He finally begins to eat like a goat and overeats and gets a stomach ache. The conclusion is to eat healthily and in moderation. Kids fall in love with this book!
The Seven Silly Eaters
by Mary Ann Hoberman
Even though this storybook has just a subtle message about being a picky eater, I included it because it is such an excellent book!
It is a story about a long-suffering mom and the fussy eating habits of her children. The illustrations in The Seven Silly Eaters are delightful, and the rhymes are very clever.
I highly recommend this book!
